Rael: ‘I ask peace lovers worldwide to help destroy nuclear weapons and I ask Truman's descendants to apologize for the worst crime ever committed against humanity!’
TOKYO, August 5 - Rael, spiritual leader of the International Raelian Movement, was asked in a recent interview to comment about the upcoming Raelian New Year celebration on August 6.
“We’re indeed about to celebrate the Raelian New Year, which will take place exactly 67 years after the Hiroshima genocide [on August 6, 1945],” Rael said. “Harry Truman is the worst criminal of all time against humanity because he gave the order to bomb two Japanese cities that were clearly civilian objectives. He did so in violation of the rules of war and his orders caused the instant killing of 300,000 innocent civilians, including elderly people and children. Even Adolf Hitler didn’t kill that many civilians with two bombs!”
“Pretending that he saved lives by shortening the war when he ordered the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki makes the crime even more horrific,” Rael added. “It’s like saying that it’s okay to sacrifice the lives of innocent civilians to save the lives of military personnel. If it had been the other way around and the Japanese army had dropped atomic bombs on New York and Los Angeles ‘to make the war shorter,’ would the American people feel it was a good thing then? I ask peace lovers around the world to make every country destroy all its nuclear weapons, starting with the United States, the only country that has used them against civilian targets. And shame on Truman’s descendants that they haven’t apologized for such monstrous acts.”
